Abstract

The research examines the challenges related to work-life balance in the service sector, focusing specifically on Commercial and Islamic Banks. It aims to quantify the impact of work-life experiences, both positive and negative, on employee well-being, optimism, and performance within these organizations. This research provides insights into both theoretical and practical aspects, exploring the relationship between work-life balance and employee outcomes. A survey questionnaire was utilized for primary data collection from Commercial Banks in Karachi. Statistical analyses were conducted to assess employees' work-life balance levels and optimism, as these factors influence their well-being and performance. The findings of this research will be valuable for policymakers, employees, and stakeholders in the service industry of Pakistan, as they can inform the development of employee-friendly policies aimed at improving work-life balance and enhancing overall outcomes. Data was collected from 274 respondents occupying administrative positions within Commercial Banks, primarily focusing on operational staff to investigate their well-being and performance. The study reveals that work-life balance significantly affects service employees in the banking sector. Although this research was conducted with a relatively small sample from Karachi's banking industry, future studies are encouraged to gather data from various cities to enrich the understanding of work-life balance across different communities within Pakistan's banking sector.
