Our research investigated the mediating effect of psychological capital in the motivational process of Job demands and resources model (JD-R model). We proposed that adequate supply of job resources activates the teachers’ psychological capital that results in to teachers’ participation in positive workplace behaviors such as Organizational Citizenship Behaviors (OCB). Moreover, it was hypothesized that the increased job demands induce high job stress that restricts the teachers to actively display OCB. A cross-sectional data of 384 faculty members in a field study was taken from all over Pakistan. We analyzed the data through structural equation modeling (SEM). The results of our study confirmed that the high psychological capital of the teachers fostered their OCB in the presence of adequate supply of job resources. However, job demands hampered the teachers’ involvement in extra role behavior i.e. OCB when they experienced high job stress. In the end the research concludes with possible future directions for the upcoming researchers.
