Intentions of Pakistani Citizens to use Digital Currency: An evidence from Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)
Abstract
The digital currency is considered as an innovative medium of exchange and via the use of internet, it increases and simplifies the online transactions. Being part of digitalized world, this research identifies the factors, which determine the intentions of Pakistani citizens to use digital currency. The study take its basis from Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). In order to achieve this goal I gathered data from 450 Pakistani citizens via the structured questionnaire with an aim to analyse the intentions of Pakistani citizens to use digital currency. In accordance with the study, the Perceived Trust (PT), Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) and Social Influence (SI) are significant factors which determine the use of digital currency among Pakistani citizen while Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), mediates the relationship existing between Awareness (AW) and Intentions to Use (IU). Further, this study also identifies the factors, which depicts the similarities and differences existing in Pakistan and across the globe. The results further provide suggestions to policy makers, government and IT professionals to increase acceptance of digital currency in Pakistan.
